Los Griegos Neighborhood

History

The Village of Los Griegos was originally clustered around Griegos Road Northwest between Rio Grand Blvd. and Guadalupe Trail and ran between the two locations: The Church located at 1858 Griegos Rd and The Griegos Ditch just to the north. The Population was made up of subsistence farmers and later Railroad and Lumber company workers. Most of the buildings built within the Village were owner built and relied on traditional building types and styles. The center of the community revolved around the church, which stands as the gateway to our new community, and the meeting house located at 1620 Griegos.

Our architectural inspiration stems from the existing architecture of The Los Griegos Historic District. Our team carefully studied the 121 houses that were inventoried in the National Register of Historic Places within the Los Griegos district and pulled the most salient design features. The simplicity, elegance, and efficiency of the existing homes became the foundation of our design strategy.
